On a trip to Russia recently, I came apon this tractor and thought you would like to see its resemblance to a Farmall regular or F-20 wide front. See the link for the picture

Cool site, wish I understood more German. I'd like to order one of those books, I'll bet there are some neat pictures in there.

trying to remember from high school history class in early 60's something about us gov. sending tractors to russia in 30's and not getting repaid on loan as ww 2 broke out and russia didn' have funds at due date of loan. i may be wrong on this as history wasn't one of my favorites

I was in Belgium a couple years ago and I saw a 40's or 50's Massey Harris (I don't know much about that brand) that had basically been bent in half. I wish I would've taken a picture. It was sitting next to a big roller too (I believe it was a Scallion) that had been manufactured in Ohio. Anyway, does anyone know anything about how that sort of American equipment ended up in Belgium? The last posts just sparked my curiousity.

Here is the pic

My understanding is that a lot of IH went to Russia in the 30's (and earlier) I have a picture of 10/20's ploughing on the Steppe. Unfortunately pics are not good enough to reproduce here. I know that other tractors went to the same places and that 10/20's were not the only IH ones, so its reasonable to assume that this tractor is in fact either a regular or F20/30. Later some were produced under licence by USSR. I will try to dig up more detail and if so I'll come back to this. MTF

Seems to me IH tractors were built under license in a factory in Russia, with the IH designs eventually being copied and modified.
