Are the impulse parts available anymore for these mags? I have a B that I converted to battery ign and use the mag points to fire a 6 v coil. The impulse was wore to where it would not catch with the speed of the starter and would sometimes lock up (stop) the starter because it was advanced. I took it apart and found a better impulse in my assortment of parts. It works better now but I don't know how long it will last. I did not check with IH yet.
 
I'm curious about the availablity and $$$ of impulse parts 'cause a friend of mine is having impulse problems as well. I gave hime the remains of a mag I had collected somewhere along the way that was stripped down to the rotor and impulse.

Hopefully, that will get him going, otherwise we'll be looking for parts, as well. (His tractor is crank-start.)

I'm GUESSING, even if new impulse parts are to be had, it might be just as cheap to put a distributor on your battery-start tractor. I have several of those on hand, from parts units to a couple of nice complete units, but have no idea what the current market value is on them.
 
I sell a RH impulse Kit, It includes the small springs ,2 new Pawls, and the clips and washers. I also have the large springs that go in the outer bell avalable also. other than that sometimes the pegs that the pawls ride on get worn out and if you are real good with braze and a dremel you can fix them. Other wise the peg thats in the rear mount needs to be punched out and turned a lot of times because it gets worn enough for the pawls not to catch good on it.
So Parts are avalable.

What is the price of that kit. I was hoping it would come with the plate because the pawls are very loose on those pegs. Can the pegs be driven out and built up & turned on a lathe?
 
Magman, do you also have parts for the f-4 mag? specifically, looking for the main housing gasket, cap, and cap gasket.
