Super A Bush Hog

I have a Super A, I want to buy a pull tupe Bush Hog. Would my SA pull a 5" ok or should I drop down to a 4"? I won"t be cutting any big stuff just clipping pastures and roadways. Thanks for your help. Jay

I just did a 10 acre horse pasture with my A and a 4' last saturday. It is heavy bermuda with some high weeds on it. My A had no problems at all with that job at half throttle and second gear. I think you could handle a 5' OK with yours.

I've run a 5" bush hog on the back of my super A with no problems as long as the grass isn't too thick or high. You should be fine.

I've been mowing with a 6ft Woods RM600 behind my 140 for over 15 yrs. 2nd gear in med grass, 1st in heavy grass/weeds. Third gear, you can't stay in the seat!

I run a pull-type 72" Bush Hog (capital B H) Squealer on my 1966 140 for the last 12 years. I always run in first, but I let it grow pretty thick. Combo was dealer recommended. Don't plan on making tight turns, but she will cut almost anything that doesn't need a chain saw.

Thanks Guys, I was leaning towards a 5" and your comments confirmed it for me. I really enjoy my little SA. Best tractor I"ve had in years. I"m a old JD man and I never thought I could get the "pop pop" out of my system but the "hum" of the SA is music to my ears. I"m sure I"ll be back with more questions. Thanks, Jay
