For seven years I have been working on restoring my grandad's first tractor. An F14 Farmall, better known to the family as "Old Bob". A name that no one seems to know the origin of.

I have only worked on it only when the mood has struck me, but we are now at the end of the project. For the past 2 evenings I could have cranked it up. Instead, I have simply stood in the garage and looked at it. It's not that I'm afraid to start it, but I am saddened that I will no longer have it staring me in the face everytime I open the garage door.

"Old Bob" and I went through many periods together during the past seven years. Things like why in the world did I ever start this project, will I ever actually finish it, to excitement that is was finally going back together.

But now that is all behind us, well almost.

Thanks to everyone over the years who have answered my questions, sent me parts, or put me on to someone who had them. "Old Bob" would not have been finished if it weren't for all of you.

Seven years is a long time to devote to one project,no wonder you felt like you weren't going to see the light of day with it.

What you need to do is flash her up and go for a spin somewhere.

I can relate, after two years of restoring a 48 Super A, we're now down to starting it and finishing the hood and grill. We spent the last six months working on it in the evenings and weekends non-stop.

My son did his Senior Project presentation with it sitting static on the trailer, but he received a 100% passing grade from all the judges, I guess we're just a little burned out right now.

Perhaps after a couple of weekends off we'll feel inspired to fire it up (it will only take us a few hours to have her running). It's sort of bitter/sweet upon completion of such a project.

I guess we'll have to roll another one in the barn and get to work. We'll have to choose from our Gibson Model A with an AHH Wisconsion, IHC T-20, John Deere L, AC Model M crawler, OS4, OS6, Schramm Pneumatractor, or 1933 Cletrac Model 25.
