hello-i have a small leak on my H and the local guy that used to fix them no longer does-any repairs available by sending or just too expensive-i have seen radiator prices online and those are not cheap-used? available?-any help appreciated-hank

I can't speak for an H, but I can for my M. I found that new, non-oem radiators do not have the capacity as original equipment. They're not as wide. So, I had a radiator shop re-core mine. Cost, as I recall, was in the $250 range. Interesting, when reinstalled, the tractor took close to an additional gallon of anti-freeze. So, the original core, and I'm sure it was original, was pretty plugged up.

My M had a leak so I took it to a local old timer that new what he was doing, When I walked in he a had an old cast iron McComick Deering Radiator. It was good to know that the guy had some experience. I would try to fix an original, it might cost more but you will know it is the right one, and not a cheapo chinese made one.

thanks fellows-the question for me is where to find a radiator shop-the one i had used before is no longer in business and no others are to be found around here-any ideas where to have the work done?-hank

Hank,

I would check your yellow pages, talk to car dealers, body shops, equipment dealerships. They all have needed radiator repair at one time or another. I don't think you'll have much luck with the internet....most radiator shops won't have a website.

It would have helped if you would have included your zip.

Theres a fellow in Dowagiac, Michigan that is a wizard. People send him rads from all over. When I took one in he was working on a 1937 Packard rad that looked like it would fall apart if you touch it. When I went back next week it looked like a new one and he didnt recore it.
