I know this topic has been discussed quite a bit on this forum, but I would like to revisit the problem to see if there are any new tricks any of you have used to free a stuck engine. This M has been in a shed for several years -- out of the weather -- but the engine is seized up. I don't want to booger it up so I'm looking for help. I realize that this is a minimum of information, but would like to toss the question out to see if anyone has a new trick or method I could try. Thanks.

Pat: There are SOOOOOOOO many posts about this - and nothing new under the sun. Rather than re-hash them all, I suggest you dig in the archives under "engine stuck" and you will find a plethora of information on this topic. Good luck to you. mike

I use and have used tranny fluid for years and most of the time it works real well. My self I would start that way and go from there. Fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit. Also crack the drain plug to make sure it doesn't have water in the oil

PB Blaster works great, Sea Foam Deep Creep and Marvel Mystery Oil work well too.

Regardless of the method you use I would loosen the rocker arms, might save you some push rods or broken rockers. I learned this the hard way several years ago.

Pat,If your M has cast Iron pistons your half way there,If there alum. then you have problems, becaues of a chemical reaction.

Remove the head and see what it looks like in there! The H I'm working on had so much muck in it, she NEVER would have broke loose not to mention what the intake and exhaust ports looked like. I have 3 of 4 pistons "loose" but number 4 will require power tools to remove. Best case you get new head/intake/exhaust gaskets out of the deal.

Good Luck!

My Super M was fairly easy. The pistons got moisture beside them and surface rust developed. With they head off, they looked like new cylinders. It wasn't until we go the pan off that we found the problem. Diesel is a good penetrant. Even at today's price, it is a cheap option for a penetrant.

I had the same problem on my 39 M. I put a little of everything mentioned above, end result, I removed the head. Removed the rod caps and used a piece of 2 x 4 to tap the rots upward. 1, 2, and 4 came right out. When I tapped no 3 it came out along with the sleeve. The way it was stuck I do not believe anything would have freed it. Did not matter that the sleeve came out for I was going to put new sleeves in anyway. Good luck.

I used ATF on an A that had been stuck for years and I used what the Chief used to drive them out and I reused the rods. Hal

i have got my case un stuck buy sanding off all the rust above the piston soacking it then drain that out fill the cylenders half full with gas (with the tractor out side on a not windy day) and set fire to it let it heat up put tractor in top gear and rock it back and foward till she moves then keep at it till pistons go all the way up and down

worked for me good luck

My farmall M was stuck the same way. i used diet coke. some old farmaer told me this trick. i dont kno if the acid in coke eats it away or wat but it worked. after letting it soak a few days a put er in 5th and rocked it. if u have some one with u have them use a pipe wrench with a breaker bar on it and go to the crank up front by the radiator. should work
