Needle Seat for Farmall Super A Carb

Yes, they are the same. I have also noticed that an aftermaket kit may, or may not, have a seat with a different height than an original IH seat. What this means is, you may not get optimum results from your float setting if you set at factory specs with aftermarket kit. The usual problem is flooding and/or running rich. Cure: Set initial setting at just under 1/8" higher, which will keep fuel level in bowl lower and prevent flooding. mike

Red Mist,
Thanks for the information. Would you happen to have a part number for the needle & seat? The carbeurator number tag is long missing on the carbeurator I have.
Thanks,
Lewis

change of subject. got a 47 cub the pto keeps kicking out. have mower deck on it. any ideas as to the problem and how to fix it? thanks

Lewis: I doubt if they are all the same. Just during 130 and 230 production, less than 20,000 tractors and two different size needle and seat combos were used. There are just too many part numbers out there on complete Zenith carbs. I'm convinced this needle seat thing is a significant part of the problem with leaky carbs. For far to many years, partsmen have decided, if it's close it's good enough. I though close only counted playing horse shoes

Super A and C used either a 67X7 or a 161X7 Zenith. You can look up those two carbs on www.caseih.com and compare part numbers. Unless I misread -- For the SA there was a chassis serial break at 255418 for the 161X7, 67X7 did not change. There were no changes for either model on the C. 353241R91 was used on both carbs for the C and the SA, except for the earlier SA. I'm not disputing what Hugh said about the later models.

CNKS: There are a lot of Super A tractor out there and from every years production with Carter carburators. There were also 3 different Carter carbs used. I know there are also Super A tractors with Zenith carburators, so not disputing there were two different Zenith.

My long time partsman once told me Super A carburators in regards to which one, was very random. He claimed it looked as though they installed whatever was available on a given production day.
