Backed the H out of the shed to do some work with it and now its stuck in two gears at the same time unless the stick is in the nuetral position which puts it in high gear! Shifter is real sloppy. Don't know what to search for and looking for some help. Thanks...Fred

Fred - That happens a lot to these tractors when the end of the gear lever becomes badly worn.

If you know which two gears it's caught in, sometimes you can "worry" each gear back into neutral by working the lever by feel.

----

More likely however you'll need to remove the shift lever then manually move the shifter rails back to neutral:

- First block the wheels so the tractor cannot roll.

- Now knock out the gear lever pivot pin. It's secured by a small cup-type plugs at both ends. Take a punch and drive either cup in to push the opposite cup out, then pull the pin.

- Pull the gear lever out.

- Using a suitable bar (a large screwdriver works well) align all (3) shift rails to the neutral position (notches all in line and centered in the opening).

- Finally replace the gear lever and pivot pin. You should be good to go.

----

To prevent it happening again you'll need to build up the worn end of the shift lever. (Build up slightly with weld then grind the weld more or less smooth - a bit of a trial and error process.)
