IH2400 backhoe/loader pump

I have a IH 2400 that has developed weak hydraulics lately to the point where the loader won"t lift the machine like she used to.

How can I determine if the pump is weak or if it bypassing elswhere in the system?
I believe the right hand pump, that is mounted externally, runs the backhoe/loader. I"ve read it may be the same as a 454 ag tractor.

Any suggestions?

Can you describe how it acts and the sounds it makes before, during, and after you operate the loader? Need more help to trouble shoot this to see if it is low on fluid, cavitating, or bypass, etc. Did this happen just recently or has there been a steady decline over months and years? Any difference between startup and after warm up (which may not be an issue this time of year)?

Cause of a seal leak, over filling these by 5 gal of hytran solves a lot of problems but I'm not sure with your external pump.

1st step is to check the filter and possibly replace and see if there is a plugged screen, etc. by the filter.

I changed the fluid/filters early this year but have put a bunch of hrs on her digging.

It don't make any noise other than a hiss sound from the valve area sometimes. I'm assuming this is a pressure relief bypassing making the hissing sound. That only happens though with one motion.

Outriggers barely lift the machine with assistance from the hoe.
Seems like it has gradually gotten weaker over the last few weeks.

I did find the filters clogged when I changed them. Maybe the new ones have plugged up.

I recall it took about 15 gallons of oil. Are you saying I should run 20?

Thanks for the help.

Is there a spin on filter up on the backhoe or on the loader frame, it might be plugged? My 2400 is the same as my 454 except it has the heavy front grill, The Hydro transmission and several other small differences. It originally had a front broom on it that I removed so didn't have any extra or oversize pump to run that. I have seen front pumps mounted as well as bigger side pumps. I have seen the bypass springs break and hang up and bypass oil. Does the tractor run warmer than before from pumping a lot of oil? Does the engine labor at medium rpm?....James

It seems to be a little weaker when she's hot. It's close to 100f here abient so she get pretty warm but, doesn't overheat.

I changed the fluids, filters earlier this year. At that time I found the hyd fluid to be milky and the left side filter and screen plugged.
There's a canister filter under my right foot area just in front of the ext mounted pump. This machine was new to me and I found the filter in this positon to be the incorrect one letting fluid to bypass. The left side filter had to do all the work and was plugged.
Since then I have changed the fluid twice (busted hose).
Maybe it's just a dirty filter. I hope...
