help!! I just had my injection pump rebuilt and I would like to make sure I have it timed correctly. I made sure that NO.1 was TDC acording to the timeing mark on the ballancer & on the injection pump.It is a 282b international TD9 dozer year1964. It has a roosamaster pump w/ DMG on it.stanadyne. I cant bring myself to ask the people that rebuilt it becouse every time I talk to them it semes it costs me a new wallet.Any info.would be greatful... p.s. this is the 2nd time its been rebuilt.. THANKS!!!

I replaced the injector pump on my TD-14. An old timer (he owns Okanogan Truck & Tractor in Okanogan, WA) told me to move it a notch or two in either direction until the exhaust burned clean until a heavy load was put on it. Then it should go a little black.

Ill will do that in the morning. I had to use the tractor today,do you think any thing could have been damaged? Thank You for the info.

I wouldn't know about damage, but think things are fine if the tractor runs. I would suggest, that after playing with the timing, to leave it alone if it runs O.K. I did some adjusting on mine per the rebuilder's instructions but saw no changes as a result. The tractor wouldn't shut off by pulling the fuel control way back like my old one did. It still doesn't so I put it in 6th gear & stall it.

Vic Bunn.THANK YOU for the info. I dont know if this could help you w/youre problem about not wanting to shutt off but I had one do this to me about 15 years ago. It was a 3 cly. perkins but had same symtoms as yours. I took the top cap off and found foreign matterial. I took a turkey baster and pulled out all fuel and debree washed w/ wd40 several times then diesel There must have been something in the way of the lever not allowing it to shut all the way . good luck...

I guess I'll leave it alone as I'm going to scrap the dozer. I put $4500 into the engine (head weld, etc., etc.) last winter and the result was that it leaks all around the head gasket. I'm done with that one. I'm now building up a TD-14A that I'll use next winter. It takes one at least that size to clear my driveway.
