IH 444

Just bought a IH 444. Gave 4750 in great shape. PTO hp is rated for 38. Will this run a mo-co(7"). looking to hay 15 acres of flat Indiana ground. Thinking square baler cause don"t think it will handle a small round baler??? Any suggestions welcomed.

Yes, it will easily handle a 7' mower conditioner. Probably won't be able to win a race, but should handle it nicely at a reasonable speed.

A small round baler would work, like the ones that only make a 3' tall x 4' wide (or is it 5' wide?). Again, no speed records but it will work.

The faster you try to cut or bale, the more power it will take.

Hi BBall, my Dad ran a 7ft NH mower conditioner for years with a 384 which is sane tractor but newer version. My brother also used the 384 on a small 4X4 round baler. The PTO HP was not the problem. The problem was going down a hill with an almost full bale in the baler, the weight of the baler plus bale would was all the 384 could handle.
