Whats the difference between a International 330 , 340 and 350? Apparently all three models were available at the same time.
Thanks

The 330 is basically a 350 utility, but equipped with the smaller 135 cubic inch engine. The 350 was built at the same time, and was available as either a utility, row crop, or standard tread (wheatland) tractor. The 350 has a 169 cubic inch engine. The 340 came a bit later, more in line with the 460 and 560, but is smaller than a 460, and even smaller than a 350.

The 340 also had the 135 gas engine and was also available with a diesel(don't know the cubes).Friend of mine has three of them(gas)and they seem like a pretty good machine. They seem like they run high RPM's though.

Red Power magazine had a good article on this in the most recent issue. Paraphrased from the article:

The 350 became available in 1957 as an upgrade to the 300 with the powerful C175 engine. Utility tractors were becoming quite popular, and Ford was kicking IH's butt in that market segment.

The 330 was produced in 1958 only, and was a marriage between the new C135 engine (slated for the future 340) and a 350 rear end. It was supposed to compete with the "light" utility tractors from Ford.

The 340 was IH's official entry into the "light" utility tractor market. It was an all new tractor, not a mutt like the 330.

Technically, all three were "available" at once, in that there were leftover 330s and 350s on dealer lots in late 1958 when the 340s arrived.

330U was an iterim tractor with the C135 (340 engine) because IH was not yet ready to release the 340. 330 and 350 were both produced in 1957 and 1958. The 340 then replaced the 330. The 460 replaced the 350.
