The rear end input shaft on our 1927 Regular leaks grease (Do they all?). I've tried new packing, but packings and me don't get along. Has anyone got dimensions for a lip seal, that would work? I'd like to have the seal made, in advance, so I could have it apart, and back together, the same day. Maybe someone has one. in pieces, and could give me the OD of the shaft, and the ID of the threaded portion of the packing gland? Any help would be appreciated.

Jimmy-We have 85/140 wt. in it, now. I have straight 140 wt, to put in, if I change to a seal. Hadn't heard of using 180 wt., although we only use it in the summer, so it should work.-Loren

Yeah, They are supposed to leak a little. It's a standard feature on IH built machines. It keeps pressure from building up internally. Remember the IH trucks from the 40s and 50s? They had problems with some customers suffocating in the cabs so they designed the doors to fit a little loose. Lots of times you could see daylight around the frame.
