I have a chance to buy a Cub Loboy 154 for about the price of a throw away garden trctor. It's in great shape with a 3-point hitch, nd a belly mower. Are these competent mowing machines? How about maintenance? Parts? I have a restored BN so I am no stranger to tracors and farmalls in particular, but I want something permantently set up for mowing.

Take Care,
Steve

They are fun to play with, large enough to provide one's basic tractor fix while mowing the yard. The 3pt. is a nice option. I really enjoy mine. The main clutch and the live pto clutch are the weak points, and certain parts, like the main clutch, are not really handy to work on. A lot of parts are discontinued and/or expensive. I have been buying parts on Ebay, many of them being parted there. Mine has a couple cracks in the fiberglass grill surround, the only new one I could find was at Bates Corp for $525, I am going to live with the cracks for a while. They are not overpowered, if your grass looks like it will need mowing soon, you had better do it now, if it gets away from you a little you will be mowing half a swath in 1st gear. Real fun little tractor, I am looking for another one for a show-only custom.

If it does not have a creeper gear, it will not pull a 60" deck if you are cutting more than a couple inches of grass. They were and still are severly underpowered for most work with a straight 4 speed tranny.

I have a loboy 154 that runs great after replacing the carburetor .I would like to rid it or trade for a one row farmall 140 or A series to work my garden.
