still no spark for my 100

well my 100 still has no spark. i have 6.5 volts going to the coil, even tried adding a direct jumper from the battery just in case. theres conductivity through the points to ground when points are closed, but none when theyre open. i even tried switching the condenser, coil, cap, and rotor with my 6V gas M since the setups looked identical. all of the plug wires and coil wire have conductivity. points and lugs have been shinied. everything looks good to me. so in other words...my 100 should run but doesnt. what am i missing?

Pull the cap off and the coil wire from the cap. Turn on the switch and open and close the points by hand. Hold the coil wire close to the engine. If you get no spark from the coil wire and at the points also then you probably have bad or dirty points or the insulator in the side of the distributor is bad and shorted out

when i opened and closed the points by hand i got a good sized spark between the coil wire and the engine block. not sure what this means though, because i have the condenser off my m on there that runs good and all the contacts in the distributor are shiny and plug wires good. any ideas?

Sounds to me like you DO have spark. Either the spark plugs are no good, or you have other problems. Another thought, do you have the correct firing order, and is the ignition timing correct?

Well if you have spark that way theres only 3 things that can stop spark to the plugs. Bad cap, bad rotor or bad plugs. Oh I should have said 4 because it could be bad plug wires

Since you have fire from the coil wire. Pull one of the plug wires off a sparkplug and hold it 1/4" away from the plug while someone makes an attempt to start the tractor. Then see if there is any fire to the plug. If there's good fire change those plugs. Hal

Is the rotor lined up with tower on the cap when it fires you can have all kinds of fire jumping around but the rotor needs to line up with the tower when points fire.

Sounds like Gene is on the right track with the dist not timed correctly to the engine. Set engine to top dead center, pull the dist. cap, & see if the rotor lines up with number 1 or number 4 spark plug wire tower on the dist. cap.

I agree with Edpap, if you haven't already checked, you need to check and make sure the distributor is actually turning with the engine. I have seen plenty of these with either the gear or distributor shaft messed up and they would not run.
