needle and seat story

this is on a briggs and stratton...
I bought a carb kit for the mower. it comes with a couple needle/seat combos to fit multiple applications. Usually in small engines one or the other of the needle/seat pair is rubber; i think they started the whole rubber tipped trend...
any way it appeared as if the needle for the metal seat was also metal...upon closer inspection, it's a shiny metal-colored rubber(or similar)! wonder what type of material that one is now? maybe it's the cat's meow and caseih will start supplying that type of tip...

ps ever see a carb turn green inside? it was a messy weekend!

Karl: CaseIH already do, I bought one in Jan. Actually I think the needle was stainless steel. Since I was in the middle of plowing snow, it went in the carb quite quickly, and I'll not remove it to settle any dispute.

Come on Hugh. Where is your sense of adventure. This could be a week long project trying to get the gas leaks stopped again and to keep the gas from running out since the needle won't seal off anymore. Ha! Ha!

the tip i have is still of soft material. Hard to notice until you actually poke it with a fingernail due to the finish and coloration of it. i wouldn't recommend playing with one you intend to use, but this one is unneeded for my application.
Hugh yours could very well be that type, but if it is working why take it apart?
