head studs- h

ready to install head, wondering if studs should be sdrewed in tight, havent touched them yet but none are screwed inall the way + some are loose or just leave em alone? thanks again

The loose ones, need to be pulled up tight. The other ones...if they are tight but appear not to be all the way up, I don't think I would mess with them.

Not quite on the subject, but what do you do with one that has been stripped out in the head. The threads in the head are bad. Drill out and re-tap to a larger diameter?

Thanks, Gene

Just wondering if the right thing to do would be to put a Heliacoil in it? (or however you spell it).

I am not sure I would go up in size on the bolt. I am curious to an answere here also.

This is a cool arrangement. Looks like a sold way to do it. Hve you ever used one. Just wondering if installing in real life is as simple as the instructions.

Yes I took my block to the machine shop to have it magnafluxed and shot blasted and it had a broken stud and they helicoiled it.

We have a bushel of them in our lab of sizes from 4-40 to 1/2" they are excellent, easy and require no "special" tap. I am a believer. JimN
