can someone tell me how to replace the fan belt on son"s H. See no adjustment bolts to allow belt to come loose and it has hand throttle sleeve I don"t see how to get new belt by it and crank pulley. Thanks for any words.

The pulley is a split design with the forward most part able to adjust closer to and farther from the rear 1/2.
There is a setscrew in the rib of the front 1/2.
Remove this and spray it down with penetrating oil. The hub is usually stuck fairly bad. Work it with a brass punch and modest hammer back and forth. till it frees up. Then loosen it until the belt can be removed. (It is taken over the fan blades one at a time. The belt may need to be twisted to allow it to slip over the tip of the fan blade. Then put the new one on in the reverse direction. Tighten the new one until it has about 3/4" slack when pushed hard with a thumb in the biddle point between pullys.
Too tight is deadly for pump bearings. JimN

Spray some WD-40 on the threads of the fan pulley. This pulley is adjustable. Loosen the locknut on the setscrew and place flat tipped screwdriver in slot and back out the setscrew. Then take a punch and hammer to strike the moveable half of the pulley. The pulley has a square block on it to strike. Once the pulley is loosened enough you can slip the belt off the lower pulley and then pull it over the fan blades one at a time till it is off. Reverse this to install new one. Good luck.

Once you get it off by following the directions below, put some more penitrating oil on the threads and work it in and out several times to assure that you have worked the rust off and have it very free...because...you may not have this off for another 20 years and you need a fresh starting point. :)

All the other stuff here is good. Whilst your old belt is still on loosen the adjuster, then If your old belt is dead simply cut it off. After that gently? feed the new one on. MTF
