Farmall H trans oil

Hello i just replaced the seals in 2 seals in the front part of the trans , the rear PTO and both brake seals. What kind of gear lube should i use? I see some people use 90wt while others use 85-140. its really just pulls a wagon and may see just a little use in the winter.

Terry, Hy-tran is by far the best, have had it in my H and WD9 for well over 30 years, they have had a lot of use. With the heavier oils in winter you will get bearings that spin in the castings, not with hy-tran. Have not seen a down side to it, IH started using it in everything beginning with the SMTA. Good luck, Chuck

If you want something that is fluid in the winter and covers the heavy summer work, buy 75W90. Probably twice as expensive as Hytran, but more gear protection. I use it in the Axial flow combine's final drives rather than the recommended Hytran.
