Was wondering if my 1486 has a governor on it, seems like when i start up a JD 4430 or 4440 it starts up high rev for a sec, then idels down like it has a governor or something, when I start my 1486 it just starts and runs at the rpm that its set at. When you lug it down it dont pick up any more power either, just wondering if thats right... Thanks.

Thats normal for a JD but a IH its not.Your IH pump needs some work on the governor if its not responding to load.

The John Deere start up is normal for a John Deere... IH diesels don't do that.

As to lugging down and not responding to load, how are you determining that it's not responding? Does the engine smoke when it starts pulling or just dies out? Do you hear the turbo wind up more when it starts pulling?

How much are you trying to pull?
