Farmall Super M Distributer question

Ok, I was replacing the points and condenser on the SM. I dropped and lost the screw that holds the condenser.

Anyone happen to know the size?

I think it is a 6-32.

Tom - been there, done that....

All the threaded hardware inside the SM distributor is 8-32.

Be sure replacement screw is right length the screws are real short probaly about 3/16 inch long and longer screw will lock uo distribiter and destoy shaft.

Thanks all. I stopped at Tractor supply today at lunch, and had bought both 6-32 and 8-32 screws, as they were $1.25 a box. I had not had a chance to read these replies, but thought that it was one or the other.

thanks again. I will trim the 1/2 inch length down a bit before I install. I will also do a test hand crank with the cap off to make sure there are no clearance issues.

Seems to me in the "old" days, you used to get a new screw with your points and condenser. guess it is a cost cutting measure.
