hey went to IH today and they have a set of power performance distributor springs. that are supposed to help increase timing advance. I brought them just to see what they would do. The problem is they are too bug in diameter and length. they are just loose so no tension on the flywheights. Have you ever seen them or used them?

I used the springs from a HEI curve kit. They are a little short but I used the medium ones and they worked just fine.

No, Ive always used em from a chevy recurve kit. The amount of degrees of timing is "preset" to what ever make and model the distributor is off of,, there are several different models that had more/less degrees of timing advance. Mainly, the lighter spring set, allows for faster timing changes under acceleration. Or speeding up the reaction time to bring the timing curve in before the rated rpm load is put on the engine. Everything is there ready and waiting for the load to be applied. Getting componets like the governor and carburator, and the distributor all working together at a new prescribed setting yields the best results. ChadS
