Checking out my new H., weak pump.

Well went back over to check out the serial # on the H and took some photos. After blowing up the photo the serial # code XP was only X1 with some scratches. My eyes must be gettn bad might get em checked or everyone will think I'm stupid. Owner said the belly pump was real weak for the 3pt. Case-IH shows a shim or plate for the pump? Is that to correct the gear wear spot? Also shown the seal was retired? Hope to get er home soon my A & SC are looken for a new stable mate, just waiting on my buddy's trailer. Someone was asking where I'm at, Cottonwood CA. is 180mi north of San Francisco and just below Redding, Lake Shasta area. Mostly orchards around here, lots of olive, walnut, almonds trees. Then go 60mi south and its mile after mile of rice. I have only raised red oats for hay but not for years. Anyway Thanks for all the great help, DAN.

Couple of things on the belly pump. Those pumps had an upgrade that increased the pump pressure. If the one you are looking at didn"t have it done it won"t lift as much. Also can try heavier oil, at least 30wt. Had an IH mechanic tell me to try 40wt in my M. After that you may just have a pump with too much wear or possible junked up inside.

Early pumps had no shims to adjust gear end play. They were rated for about 400 PSI. Later pimps used a thinner center section and shims to adjust the gear clearance. They were rated for about 700 PSI.
