eng was loocked ( dirt on top of # 2&3 pistons) took off mag drive thought it was gears jamed,want to set time(tdc # 1) etc. befor installing head. 2 marks on pully & also a single mark. any tips? service manual dont say. thanks AGAIN
 
In the direction of rotation, the first mark is the TDC mark.
set the Rotor to point to 1:00
the click of the impulse coupling should happen at the timing mark (TDC).

4-3 when looking at the rotor from the back to front. JimN
 
Pull #1 plug, put a thumb over the plug hole, fotate until pressure is felt.
Put a piece of copper wire in the hole and feel the piston move to TDC area. Look at marks! JimN
 
Dear Poor Farmall,
The first of the double marks is for static timing of the engine whether it is magneto or distributor ignition. The single mark is for greasing the pilot bearing in the crankshaft as the grease fittng appears when this mark lines up with the timing pointer.
 
wow who the heck would know about greese fitting, thanks looked in service manual today does have some good info, ive got the head off and the mag off and the gear the mag bolts to off, i think ther is marks on gear to set it with gear in frt. cover ill be checking that tonight thanks AGAIN
 
theres a chamfered tooyh on the camshaft gear to line up withthe punch mark on the mag, accoriding to serv. manual.
