Is there a process to take down an oil pump, clean it out real well and check it for it for correct mechanical workings?
thanks

After several attempts to build good pressure in my '47 H by increasing the bypass spring tension, I finally found wear on the shaft just above the gear set. To remove the shaft for inspection, punch the pin out of the driver gear and pull the shaft out of the bottom of the housing. Shaft wear is easy to spot. I believe the service manual gives specs for the gear clearance and end play. If things are too worn, get another pump.
