Last Year - Drought; This Year - Corn Drowned

Howdy, boys: I know, I know - this is nothing new in the grand scheme of things, but gee whiz, the fields are so wet this year nobody can get into them (late planting) and some of the corn is already hurt by the rain. Last year everything was burning up at this time.
I'm not a farmer, but some of my friends are. All I want to do, is plant a few rows of field corn and some sunflowers for a good dove shoot this Fall. However, my friend, Bubba-Hugh, is going to have to replant some of his corn - if it ever gets dry enough that he can..... North Alabama is plenty wet right now. I cannot even finish mowing the pasture. mike

Here in Natchitoches, Louisiana it is powder keg dry. Last year it rained all summer and did not stop until late October. I had 50 acres of trees to be logged on my new property. The loggers cut in October and did not leave ruts, not even in the creek bottom. They could not even walk through it in July.

Mike: Here after 6 weeks of no frost, we get a frost yesterday morning that killed half my buckwheat. I had the hillers out, made sure my potatoes were burried. We're getting it again this morning. We just can't seem to get that overnight temp up. We were getting cloudy, overcast and even rain and that kept the frost away. With the clear nights came the frost.

Here in the midwest (an hour north of St. Louis. MO) we are over 12" above normal for rainfall. I can't get the pastures mowed and only about half the farmers in the area have been in the fields. It looks like it might be dry for the next several days, though.

I cant get enough dry sunny days to even cut the hay let alone get it to dry so i can bail it.
im in southern indiana.

Most dry January 1 to June 1 on record here in south central texas. Last year was the wetest summer on record. Gotta take it when you get it because you never know when it will shut off...

Here in North East Arkansas it is been very wet. All the crops are late and it has been in and out of the fields a day or two at a time. Corn is late rice is late cotton is late and soybeans are begining to be that way also. We need a couple of weeks of dry weather here so things can get off to a better start and we can finsh planting. But one thing is for sure the Good Lord knows are needs and will provide.
