hey anybody have any ideas on how to tighten the belt. I know it gets bigger as you screw the fan out. I am having trouble with the stationary piece trying to hold it and move the outer piece to get the belt tight. Any body made like a spanner wrench or something that they have pics of. 95% ready to get her fired up and hear her run. Also anybody have any good ideas on breaking in a motor??

If it is loose on the hub, just use a brass drift to punch it in the right direction.
It is not a timing belt, it is a fan belt.
It should be about an inch of slak when pushed hard with your thumb. Tight is bad. JimN

You are doing it backwards. Hold the piece solid and turn the fan. Yeah, IH put a wrench with the tool kit but they have all been lost. I have only ever seen one and it was with a NOS tool kit.

And I think it is pretty well agreed that the best thing for a newly overhauled engine is to take it out and work it. If nothing else at least hook it to something heavy and drag it around for a few hours.
