Farmall H Spark Plugs

Hi all,
I posted a couple days ago about my 1943 having a miss in the #2 cylinder. I swapped the plug from #2 to #3 and it did not miss in #2, but it did in #3, so that means that the plug is bad. These are new Autolite 3116's that lasted a very short time. I'd like the switch back to the Champion plugs, but I don't know what number the non-resistor Champion plug is. If you can give me the part number for the CHAMPION NON-RESISTOR spark plug, I'd appreciate it!!

Thanks,
Andy.

Switching is OK, but the plugs you have in it are also OK. Just buy one. All it takes is a flash of metal particle to bridge the insulator. All plug brands are subject to the issue. I have no axe to grind with Champion, but other brands are fine. JimN

Andy: I just found the problem with the miss in my SH was also plug related. I took out the old Auto Lites. They were really old and worn excessively on the electrodes. (I'm not complaining about the service I got from them.) I put in a use set of used and regapped AC's from the SM and my problem was solved. However, I am used to Champions and I like the D18Y for medium to light duty. If you are going to work the tractor hard, the D16Y or D15Y would be a better choice. Not sure they make the 16's anymore(?) Maybe they do.... mike

I use D15 in the tractors that are worked hard in the summer, D19 for moderate use, and the 544 has D21 in it since it gets used for short periods in the winter.

Just make sure to "read" the plugs after several hours of use to be sure it isn't too hot of a plug...
