f-20 oil deflector

I am in the process of rebuilding an f-20. Does anyone know the correct orientation of the oil deflector for the rear main bearing next to the flywheel. To the best of my recollection, the side of the deflector shown in the attached photo faces outward towards the flywheel. Also, the deflector seems a bit sloppy on the crank. Does the pressure of the flywheel hold the deflector in place? Thanks in advance for any help in this matter

From my recollection, the deflector fits better on way then the other. You might see some binding if you put it in backwards. Mine seemed to not fit without too much slop. I think the side in your photo that faces up goes to the outside. I believe from looking at the design, the inner groove is to allow room for the oil from the bearings to escape. It probably does not serve much purpose anyway. Check the parts book. There is a good cut-away diagram that may show.
