Can you start a bed of horse raddish from a store bought root the same way you can do it with a potato???? Cut the eyes and plant them??

If you have done it, how do you do it?

Tom,

We have always planted the very top of the root, the crown. If it is cut off, I'm not sure that just the root would send up any leaves.

I saw a sho once on commercial Horseradish processing. They wore hazmat suits and gas masks.

Horseradish, in the right conditions, is a WEED. ANY section of root you plant should start a new plant.

You bet. The sections toward the top have the highest chance of taking off with vigor. Cut into 1.5" sections, and leave as much root hair as possible, don't pull them out, dig them and wash to prepare to cut. tops up is best, and 2 sections per root might be max. JimN
