Framall H horsepower

Just getting into a little tractor pulling, and I'm looking for some ideas to boost the horsepower on my 1940 Farmall H. Engine is stock, and has recently been freshind up a bit. Any ideas?

Thanks-

Also use a later cam from a 300 or 350. You will probably eventually want a stroker crank, etc. This can be addictive!

Now why in the world would ya waste money on a rocket Gov. ya ain't going to gain anything over a stock one that is working correctly . Bore cam , head, valves , carb . some trick work on the dist. Playing with valve set degreeing of cam this makes pony power . H's aren't big enough for horse power.

Vet, I agree, but lots of folks think they have to have them. I put one in a SMTA for a friend of mine and all I could tell that it done was incresed the engine speed. Still didn't seem to have anymore power than my old M with an over bore kit in it.

YEP . I can go thru the factory gov. and it will do everything that them fancy ones claim to do . I have run them on the dyno with the same tractor and never saw any increase . Take a stock one and FIX the arms with new bushing a new spring and thrust bearing fix the slop in the linkage and you will see all that you are going to get.

I've got a head from a 300 on the way, but you are saying to try the cam also? I know how addictive and expensive this can be. I have alot of buddies into this.
