444 with F-E loader

Hi, we had 434 and 384 same as 444 with front end loader. They were good loader tractors with 1501 or 1550 IH loaders, Tractor is not heavy enough for large round bales weighting 1500 lbs.

I have a 2444 (industrial 444) with a 2050 loader on it. The tractor is pretty much unusable with anything in the bucket without a big rear counterweight.
I have a 3/4 ton steel counterweight on the back :)
Poor little tractor still goes though.

Also the 2444 has HD front axles and dual cylinder hydrostatic steering.

If he has the straight front axle rather than the swept back HD one that we have on our 2444's, it will be better for loader work than what we have.

(quoted from post at 12:02:48 04/13/09) Why is the straight one better?

Moving the front wheels forwards will lengthen the wheel base which will put less strain on the front axle and require less weight on the rear.

Think of the tractor/loader as a lever. The load is in the bucket. The force is applied down at the rear axle. The front axle is the fulcrum (pivot point). As the front wheels are moved forwards less weight will be carried there and more weight will remain on the rear axle. The straight axle will move the wheels ahead about a foot. The trade off is the longer wheel base will make for a larger turning radius.
