Farmall 200 carb leaking

I have gas leaking out of a little weep hole on the bottom of the carb, especially if I have to crank it over alot to start it. I am also fighting a hard start problem that this may or may not be a part of.

Needle and seat are new and the float is OK/ has no leaks. Float could be out if adjustment, but I bent the tang up to raise it and it still does it. I actually think I have it adjusted too high now. I had this problem before and after rebuilding the carb. I have to check to see if it is catching on the side of the bowl. It does it when I have to crank it for extended periods to get it to start. I also put an inline filter in the line before the carb and thats when all this started, but I cannot see how that would cause this.

The needle is hanging up in the seat, gently file the three sides of the needle to polish them a little. I find more sticking new parts than old.

You need to clean that new needle and seat. There is a residue from the manufacturing process that seems to get sticky when it meets with gasoline. Aerosol carb cleaner will do the trick.

First chance you get, get rid of the Carter and get a new Zenith. I have a Carter on the work bench that was professionaly rebuilt and still I never did get it to stop leaking.

just went through the same thing. was told just about every thing you have had heard. at the base of the fuel bowl where the fuel is drawn out of the bowl not shure what it's called I think it's the venturie but this is how i found the problem. remove lower base fill bowl half way cover with duct tape very tought like making a diafram and press on it the problem will become aperant. when you press on tape if ya get fuel coming out of the tube in the middle of base the valve at the base is defective the carb needs enough air flow through it to draw fuel from the bowl and should not let it run out when just sitting there with fuel on
