I removed the fuel line from the diesel tank to repair a leak at the connection under the water trap. When I removed the line, some, but not all fuel drained out of water trap. Repaired leak and reinstalled line. Turned on fuel at tank. Started tractor. Switched to diesel OK, but water trap did not refill all the way to the top and fitting by the injection pump (at the other end of return line) started leaking fuel and, I think, air. Tractor does run, but something's obviously not right here. How do I correct this ? Would appreciate any advice and help. Thanks

at the top of the water trap there is a bleeder. Also at the top of the two filters are bleeders. the one on the right is bled with motor off the one on the left is bled with motor running on gas and the throttle open a little. also when these have been purged, bleed each injector with motor running. The fuel return line leak is a plumbing problem that will need to be fixed. Get a book it will help you immensly.

Bruce,
The valve on top of the glass water trap actually is for draining off the water in the bottom of the glass bowl (there is a tube that runs to the bottom of the bowl). In order to get the air out of the glass bowl, you need to leave the nut on the bottom of the bowl loose until the bowl fills, and then tighten it up when fuel comes out around the gasket (similar to getting air out of gasoline sediment bowls). As Geoff said, the engine will not run right unless you purge the air out. Anytime you open up the fuel system which includes changing filters, fixing lines, etc. you need to purge out the air. The manual has a procedure for bleeding all the air out. Roger

If it has a water trap with a water bleed valve it also has a air bleed screw. The head of screw is pointed toward front of engine. Some early water traps didn't have a water drain valve.
