farmall h STEERING

I AM REPLACING THE BUSHINGS IN THE SHAFT TO TIGHTEN THE STEERING.I HAVE THE BOTTOM BUSHING OUT AND WONDERED HOW TO TAKE THE TOP ONE OUT.

THANKS DON

Don...there has been a lot of discussion on this...which I did not read...on this site. Do a search and I am sure you will get your answer.

You will likely have to make a puller. Find or make a metal disc slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the bushing, drill a hole in the center to accept a piece of all thread. Place a nut on one end of the all thread, insert through disc and shove upwards under the bushing. Get a piece of steel to put on top of the bolster with a hole to accept the all thread, put a nut on the all thread and tighten, thus pulling the bushing up and out.

Don Don;t know about your tractor, but my M had a split bushing in top and came out very easily. Benrie steffen

I just did that yesterday. You find a socket that just fits and use an extension in it and pound on it and drive it out. Go from the top and drive it out the bottom...the seal will come out at the same time. If it won't budge, use a hacksaw blade to cut a couple of grooves in it and loosen it that way first.
