I HAVE A 1943 FARMALL H, AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE INTAKE/EXHAUST MANIFOLD. I ORDERED ALL THE PARTS I NEED INCLUDING A NEW STUD KIT. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF I NEED TO PUT ANY TYPE OF SEALANT ON THE GASKET, AND DO I NEED TO APPLY ANY TYPE OF ANTI SEIZE COMPOUND ON THE THREADS OF THE NEW STUDS FOR THE MANIFOLD? IS THER ANYTHING ELSE THAT I SHOULD BE AWARE OF BEFORE I INSTALL THE NEW MANIFOLD?

i dont use any sealant on the gasket, but i do put anti sieze on the studs and nuts. dont over torque the nuts, they are fine thread and torque up pretty quick.

Did you get four of the extra thick flat washers for the studs where the manifold is split? You need to have those special washers on there.

If it was a foreign shore manifold I'd have it palned/milled flat prior to install.

Out of curiosity, was the last manifold a Distillate manifold with the selector on the right side of the hot box? If so, did the selector move? If so, what was wrong with the manifold?

MIKE CA,
YES THE LAST MANIFOLD DID HAVE A SELECTOR ON IT, AND IT WAS FROZE UP. THANKS FOR ASKING BECAUSE I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THAT SELECTOR WAS FOR.
