350 utility hydraulic relief valve

Does anyone know if there is a relief valve on that really big block under the seat on a farmall 350 utility. What is inside that casting is it just a tank?

Don't know for sure about the 350 but my 2606 industrial does in the front right corner next to the block and relief that is on the outside. That is the rockshaft housing and mine does not have the rockshaft nor the other stuff associated with the rockshaft. Mine has a drain tube in the back that sticks up about 4" and maintains about 4 inches of fluid in there. The tube is welded in from the bottom and won't screw out (I tried and bent it). There is a 3" long plug at the front towards the left. I screwed it out so it would drain into the rear end but still leaves about an inch of fluid in the bottom. Mine had about a half inch of sludge built up in the bottom over the years.

Don't know what problem you are having but I found a piece of broken metal/spring holding the ball open in mine. Put in the vise to depress the ball and the broken piece fell back inside the relief valve. So far it works and hasn't plugged open again.

You can remove the seat and the top plate. Just be careful not to ruin the gasket. I opened mine a few times and used the original gasket. Nothing in there is high psi so you can run it and watch the fluid flow. If the relief valve is stuck like mine it will flow out of it. Inside the casting is some plumbing and maybe another inlet from the front.

I put a guage on the system and the pressure only goes up to 1200psi at idle or high rpm. What do these systems run for pressure?

1200 psi is correct. I think the relief valve is external to the resevior, sandwiched between the rear hydraulic control valve and the resevior.

1200 psi at 10gpm is correct for your 350u. The pressure regulator is the first block up against the reservor. The first hydratouch block attaches to the out side of the pressure regulator. If your tractor has additional hydratouch valves they bolt to the reservor just ahead of pressure regulator. But they are feed through the pressure regulator, the first valve in into the outside of the forward valves. If you have power steering then the flow is out of the pressure regulator and into the out side of both front and rear hydratouch valves. This is to give your power steering priority.
You really need to get your self a parts manuel and a service manuel. These will show you everything you need to know about your tractor.
