after putting new rings, valve job, the episode of having to split her and put a new welch plug in, adding a waterpump. lo and behold it got going only to have the fan bearing freeze up! so i took the one off the 230, put it on. hooray, runs like a charm, a little faster than i'd like but i'll let it run as is for a while before i make too many adjustments. thanks guys!

You want to make sure that you break that engine in correctly, running it wide open from the get go is not good. Search the archives on break in methods.
