2001 IH loader on 674

Still trying to get a loader located for my 674. Just found a 2001 IHC loader for sale in my area. Will this fit on my 674 tractor? Thanks

The International 2001 Loader will operate on the Farmall 240, 404, 340, 504, 460, 560, 656, H, Super H, M, MD, Super M, Super MD, Super M-TA, Super M-TA Diesel, 300, 350, 350 Diesel, 400, 400 Diesel, 450 and 450 Diesel tractors and International B-275, B-414, 240, 404, 424, 340, 504 and 460 tractors. If you would post back with your location/condition/trip bucket/dual action or not cylinders, maybe someone else could make use of this loader and someone here may also post back with something you could use. You may have already done so, but if not, a classified ad could bring you something as well and they are... sit down for this...FREE! Something they don't make many of these days. In a nutshell, unless the loader comes off the exact tractor you want to put it on, or one in the same series, it will likely require some modification to install on your tractor.

Pretty much any loader can be installed on any tractor with enough fabrication work. If you want a bolt on, that's a different story.

If you're not afraid of a little torching and welding, go look at the loader. Measure it up and see if your tractor will fit between the frame rails.

The loader mounts against the axle. First measurement is from the front of the axle to the front of your tractor/radiator housing. Then measure the 2001 frame from the mount to the inside of the front cross brace. If the loader is a little long, then probably not much of a problem. If loader is short, then you may need some type of extension plate on the loader at the axle and longer bolts. I think the front cross brace on my 3000 loader is just an inch or so from the front of the tractor. Saw a picture posted here a while back of a cross brace that stuck out a foot on a short 4 cylinder tractor. (stick out too far and that affects the equilibrium not allowing you to pick up as much without extra weight on back)

Then double check the front supports that bolt to the tractor frame. You may or may not have to do some modification/fabrication or drill new holes to mount them.

The 6 cylinder tractors and some farmalls are longer wheelbased than say your 4 cylinder tractors which is where some modifications come in depending upon what the loader was built for.

Just remember that when doing any modification, all the force is going to be pushing up against the axle with those mounting bolts and down on the front brackets when you pick up something with the loader.

Finally check the specs on the loader to make sure it will pick up what you want. Many loaders won't handle a 1500# bale but I suspect the 2001 is stout enough to do so. Some loader hydraulic circuits, like my IH3000, want you to replace the regular 1600# relief valve with a 2000# one to handle the rated loader loads. They guy with the manual can tell you this.
