Charlynn PS on an M

I have an M with a Charlynn pump. The pump turns until it builds pressure and then locks up, you cant turn the pully with a pipe wrench, I"ve tried. If you loosen one of the lines so pressure can escape it spins freely. Any ideas? I dont know when the problem started, there was no belt on the pump when I bought the tractor.

May want to make sure oil is passing through tourqe generator and back to reservoir. Relief valve should open up before lockup if pressure build up is causing problem though.

Suspect the torque generator has either something broken inside or it is assembled wrong (it contains internal parts that must be properly timed to each other).

Also there should be a relief valve inside the pump to limit outputpressure when it becomes dead-headed. (When dead-headed the pump will become hard to turn - but it should still go around without too much effort from a wrench).

Running without an working relief valve risks bursting a hose and other (more expensive...) damage.
