I have a 41 H. the starter spins but does not engage, I have heard this is normaly the bendit(flywheel is fine) where can I find a replacement? how do I change this?

First pull the starter, ground the case and jump onto the current feed for the starter. See if the bendix is sliding up the shaft. If it isn't, lube the shaft with a penetrant/lubricant. a lot of times that takes care of the problem.

If you have to remove the bendix, take out the two long bots that hold the starter together and pull off the starter head. There is a little clip that you take off and the bendix will slide off. Reassembly is pretty simple.

Steiner Tractor Parts has both the old style starter drive and a new "improved" one. They are pretty easy to change. Take the starter out, take the dust band off, disconnect the wires from the brushes, take the starter apart, remove the 2 small screws holding the starter to the nose piece, take it apart and replace the drive.
