Super M fixed, ready to work!

I posted a couple weeks ago that my Super M had lunched its pilot bearing and upper constant mesh gear. Well, I got all the parts I needed including a new clutch disk. 3 new bearings, 1 oil seal, good used input shaft and she is pulling again.

Also took care of a couple items since I had the opportunity. I ditched the belt pulley--it was only in the way--and I slid the rear hubs in to their narrowest position. One thing I found was than the right rim had slipped thru the clamps so I straightened that out. Never noticed it before, though I doubt I was the owner when it happened. Got the generator charging again; that regulator continues to give me fits.

The not-so-good news is that the trans still rumbles. The lower constant mesh gear has a bad spot. Can"t feel anything when I turn it by hand but I hear it. I"ll let it go and monitor to see if it gets worse.

Still, drives great and that motor sounds powerful. Last time I checked compression, it was around 135-140 psi on all 4 cylinders. Gave her a tune-up and new battery.

Sorry for the ramble, here"s the pics.

Well, the shutter linkage is there, got the shutters in the shed. I may install them just so they're not sitting around waiting to be bent. Haven't decided.

I do like this tractor. Bought her couple years ago with shaky steering. Put her right to work hauling round bales on a Donahue trailer. I had 4 bales plus the trailer, probably weighed at around 10,000 plus the tractor. Buddy behind me with a JD 4010, was just keeping up and I would pull away thru the turns.

Fixed the steering with new tires and a bearing/seal kit for the bolster.

Next project is the brakes. One side works, the other doesn't.

I'm thinking a paint job might not be too far in the future. However, everytime I think about the work I put into my Cub, I lose interest!
