anyone know what the threads are on an original F-20 fuel line? i changed the sediment bowl and cant find anything that will make the original fuel line connect to the aftermarket sediment bowl. what can i use. dont really want to cut up the original line.

another thing ive found over the years is the type of ends that are originally used on those old beasts no longer exist in current manufacture. taper and styles are different, even more so on the oil lines on the outside of the engine :?

Even on my 200 (1956) and an earlier 1941 B I had trouble using the original fuel line fittings. Both needed fuel lines and I did not find original replacements. I used steel break lines (5/16"). The built in fitting on the break line will bolt up to the aftermarket bowl with no modifications. On the carburetor end, the original used a male compression elbow fitting for the carburetor end and a female coupling on the pipe end above the compression ring. I was not able to find that arrangement but previous post indicate that it is available. Check previous post for Fuel Lines. I just replaced the male elbow on the carburetor with a female and put the male end and the compression ring on the new fuel line. I doubt that you will be able to remove the old compression ring from the old pipe without damaging the pipe.

I went to the local propane provider and they had some fittings that matched up on my F-20.

The original fuel and oil line fittings were made by Imperial. I have access to the descendants of these fittings. They are still made. What made these fittings unique was the ferrule was machined as part of the nut. It is designed to break away when the fitting is installed on the tube.

I am on vacation this week. When I get back I will post more info. I know there will be interest.
