What kind of hydraulic fluid for 886?

We"ve got an 886. Last summer, my brother in law (his tractor) filled the hydraulic fluid with some stuff he had. We have since had a small leak AND when machine is cold it seems like nothing works well. My suspicion is the fluid he put in was too thick.

Even if I"m wrong, it"s probbaly not a bad idea to replace it, so exactly what type and how much hydraulic fluid should I use in an International 886? I ALREADY have several 5-gal buckets of AW-32 (if memory serves me) for my JCB backhoe...can I use that?

I will buy different if I need to, I just happen to like the idea if I"m able to use the same fluids in both machines.

Thanks for any input.

Yeah, hydraulic fluid is bad, it needs to be a hydraulic AND transmission (hydraulic/transmission) fluid. I'd stick with a name brand though, we could get Pitt/Penn for 2/3 the cost of Pennzoil but it ran so hot in the Ford backhoe that you could stick a safety pin through the hydraulic hoses.

Hytran or equivalent, some will say only Hytran. The viscosity is approximately SAE 10. Do not use anything else unless it meets Hytran specs -- it will say on the container.
