Early vs late Farmall A drawbars

I am restoring an early 1939 Farmall A. It is missing the swinging drawbar. The parts manual lists one drawbar for S/Ns up to 13393 and a different drawbar for 13394 and up. Does anyone know the difference between these two items? Are they interchangeable?

The difference is in the front of the swinging drawbar where it attaches to the crossbar.The crossbar is different too_On the early ones ,the swinging drawbar didn`t have the extra plate welded on top.It was just a straight piece with no tongue .The crossbar had the strap welded on that you stuck the swinging drawbar thru.The tongue was on the crossbar.I think you either have to have both of the earlier or both of the later,no mix or match on this. I have serial #1474 Farmall A with the original swinging drawbar and crossbar.If you want ,I can try to get a picture for you. Mark

I think I have 2 of the same style. I am looking to get ride of one complete one so if interested you can email me at [email protected]
I have one off a 1940 A and one off a 1945 and I think there the same hard to tell if there original to the tractor.
let me know

Mark,

A picture is worth a thousand words. Please feel free to send me an e-mail (see my profile) or post the picture on the site so that others can see.

Thanks,

There was also a Quick-Attach drawbar set-up but that might not have been available til the Super A. I have a 45 A and a 53 Super A and the Draw bars are a little bit difference in the way they mount, the Quick Attach has slotted holes that do not require you to remove the bolts to remove the drawbar.

Well, I have failed to get my pictures to show up in this post. But I did get them into the "Parts and Pieces" photo gallery on the left side of this page. Maybe somebody else who`s more computer savvy than I can post the pictures onto this thread. I also included a picture of the hoop drawbar where it attaches to the drop axle. This is different than the later ones also in that there is no angled back part of the brace, it just goes straight down at the drop axle. Hope this helps.Mark

Lets see if I have any luck with Mark's pictures.
