444,2444 or 2404?

My grandmother bought a tractor, it was listed as a 444.We have a 444 ,it is not the same and of course there are no data plates any more.My father who used to be an I/H dealer thinks it is a 2404.does anyone know how to find out the exact model?Also the tractor looks to possibly be state hwy as it is painted yellow ,there are no emblems of any type except the loader looks like it had a 2ooo logo.

2400, 2404, 2410 were Light Industrial tractors.
2440 bare tractor, 2404 loader tractor, 2410 backhoe/loader tractor.

If it has diamond axle housings and battery under the dash, it's a 404/2404. Most 2404's had the cast iron grille housing but, so do 2444's. If it has the battery in the fender and round axle housings, its a 444/2444 series.

it has the battery in the fender.also don"t know if it helps but does not have sleeves

I know the 444 and 2444 had the c-153 engine which is a non-sleeved engine. I think the 404 used the c-135 which is sleeved.

444,2444 or 2404?
