F20 Clutch?

Started my F20 today after a few months of sitting. It runs fine, clutch seems to work fine when we pop start it...I can shift gears w/o grinding....but, if I start it w/ the hand crank & then try to put it into gear, it just grinds & I"m unable to put it into gear. Last year, I had similar trouble w/ my cub & it wound up being a pilot bushing...is this the same problem w/ the F20? Any "tricks" to fix w/o splitting the tractor??? Could it be something else?

I had a similar problem with my Cub a few years ago. If you let the clutch out with the engine running, but not in gear, you couldn't get it in gear without grinding.

I adjusted the three spring fingers on the pressure plate through the inspection hole underneath the tractor to give the clutch a little more "release" and it's been fine ever since.

I don't know if an F20 has an inspection hole to get at the clutch, or of the pressure plate fingers are adjustable.

One of my 20s trucks did that. It was junk on the clutch splines that caused it to drag. sprayed kerosene on it and like the manual said to do and it has been fine since.
