460 utility oil levels

Hi Guys Can someone tell me how to check and where to fill the hyd oil, also the differential and trans. Also on the fast hitch when it is in the down position it still has 4 or 5 inches of rod out is there a way to adjust that so the hitch goes down farther? Thanks Pete

Please get a reprint operator's manual. This will answer your questions about what oil to put where, how much, and where to check the levels.

Pete,

On my 460 U the hyd oil fill plug is next to the shift lever. It is approx. 1 1/2" plug with a sqaure indented in to it where I put a 3/4" drive rachet into to get it open. The level fill line is indicated by removing a plug on the side of the trans housing under your left foot running board. Take that plug out and fill with hy-tran until it runs out then replace the plug. On mine I add 5 gals more of hy-tran after it hits the plug level. As for the "rod sticking out" I'm not sure what you mean When my fast hitch is all the way down I cant really tell how much "rod" is left in the cylinder...if that is what you mean by rod.

Why do you add 5 more gallons of oil after oil reaches the level plug? Doesn't that make the oil run out all the seals? Just curious, doorman
