Super MD timing gear

Does anyone know if the timing gear can be moved while still in the tractor? I know it cant be removed while in the tractor but can it be pushed back and up to rotate the gear with the pump out?

If I remember right that timing gear is held on with a through bolt. There is a nut inside the engine. I don't know if there is room to get the bolt out far enough to move the gear if you can get at the nut with the oil pan off. Roger

Why move it?
If it is one tooth off, just use the next tooth as the correct one. It might not be ideal, but you can always make a note of your action on a taped in spot in the manual! JimN

No, cover is made so gear doesn't get out of mesh when pump is removed.

Yeah i figured that out, working on pulling the front off now...

Thanks guys im sure im going to need some advice pulling the front cover off. Looks like ill need a puller on the front balancer?
