H still wont start.

This H is gettin me down. I did as some suggested and took carb back off. I sprayed all passages out with carb cleaner and adj float so gas will be higher. Same story, it only tries to start if Im spraying sarter fluid in air intake. Im going to take a compression reading , maybe new rings not being seated is causing compression to be to low. The old H spins over real fast with 12 volt but has high dome pistons. Appreciate all the responses.Jeff.

New eng ines will start well. A faulty manifold can make them not start. Manifolds can have internal breaks that suck exhaust and ruin all pretense at vacuum. Put your hand over the intake of the carb. If it pulls in dramatically, the fuel is not getting in. if it is weak, it is likely an issue with the manifold. Valve adjustment that is way off can do it, but not likely. .020"

Hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor and see if there's good suction while someone makes an attempt to start the engine. You probably should have soaked the carburetor in carburetor cleaner and blowed out the jets. Could be plugged with dirt or a gummy residue from old gas. Make sure the carburetor flange is snug agaist the intake manifold. Hal

El Toro and Jim are both correct. And, if the manifold is not tight, the compression test will not be correct. If you have a rebuilt engine, disassemble the carb and soak it overnight in real carb cleaner, as the stuff you are using probably won't do much. Blow out with compressed air. Put a new kit in it. First check the carb inlet with your hand to make sure the manifold is tight. You would have to do an impossibly lousy job with the rings to get compression low enough to where it would not start -- very doubtful.

Listen to yourself! It starts when you feed it fuel. Forget the other stuff and solve the fuel problem! If you crank it, and then pull a plug, and it's bone dry, then troubleshoot the fuel delivery problem until you have that cured.
One logical step at a time.

have u tried painting it green yet? lol its a fuel delivery issue. soaking & spraying will do NOTHING toward removing crap stuck & hardened in a passage. needs to be physically removed.

I'll go with Jim on the valves not being gapped right. When you say that the engine turns over fast, makes me think of low compression & vacuum.

Check to be sure you put the venturi tube back in place. Experience counts for a lot, I took my carb off 4 times before I found tube in parts cleaner basket.
